Model Ship Kit Database

Browse kits by manufacturer, hull type, skill level, and more.

The Suburban Ship Modeler's Model Ship Kit Database contains information on 650+ model ship kits. The lists were generated by analyzing what was being built by the community at Model Ship World.

Using the database you can find what models are available for a given ship or manufacturer, or get a list of kits that match your desired skill level, price range, or scale.

By using actual build logs from real people to generate this list, we are able to determine how popular different kits, ships, and manufacturers are.

About the Database

Source Data

This data was generated by examining the thread titles of the "Build Logs for SHIP MODEL KITS" forum of Model Ship World. The thread titles are generally in a specific format, so code was written to pick apart the thread titles and identify the ship, manufacturer, and scale. This information was then used to identify the kit being built.

Data is NOT automatically updated. This information is only updated when a fresh copy of the source data is manually copied and pasted (automatically crawling other people's sites is bad). So, information is out of date within a few minutes of posting. That last data import was on .

We've attempted to correct the data, including fixing typos and normalizing ship names for better organization. Some entries may still not be correct.

How to Use the Dababase

Click on the button at the top or bottom of this page to enter the database. Use the drop-down filters at the top to narrow down what is displayed. Use the links above the table to switch what is shown:

In the results, you'll see ship names and manufacturers are clickable. Clicking on of those will reset the filters and show all entries for that ship or manufacturer.

The tables are sortable - click on a column header to sort by that column, or to reverse the sort order (ascending/descending).
